Scarborough Realists Now

David Finnigan, Clive Head, Nathan Walsh, Steve Whitehead

Sat 4 Oct - Sun 14 Dec

Scarborough Realists Now displays the work of Clive Head, David Finnigan, Nathan Walsh and Steve Whitehead - artists living in Scarborough who have all won national and international renown.

Their work is described as photo or hyperrealism.   All the artists in this exhibition make use of photographs to produce their work, but not exclusively so.  They refer to sketches and notes made on location.  The tension created by hand painted super realism tricks the eye into thinking it might just be a photograph.

The paintings shown in this exhibition are the result of many months of painstaking application of many brush-strokes.  The results are beautifully painted surfaces, imaginative compositions and incredible technical prowess.

These four artists have done much to create artistic recognition of Scarborough and this is their first ever joint exhibition.
