The Rotunda Museum

Is the only Museum with direct links to Wiliam Smith, 'The Father of Geology' and the only Museum that was specifically designed to illustrate a science - the science of geology.

The museum re-opened in May 2008 after a £4.6m revamp with the new name The Rotunda, The William Smith Museum of Geology. It mixes geology with the social history of a time which gave birth to the first museums financed by local Philosophical Societies driven by passionate intellectual curiosity.
