Collections

Count Raggi's Bird of Paradise

Our collections would not be what they are today without many donations from specialists and members of the public.

We still continue to collect objects which will complete collections and are of special interest to all of our subject areas -  geology, social history, natural history and fine art and archaeology.

Our curators accept items that are in good condition and meet the requirements outlined in our Acquisitions and Disposals policy.

Our curatorial team also consider whether there is accompanying information and background on the history of the object, whether we can care for and store the object and if it will be unique within our collections.

Every item we are offered is considered by our curators with great care.  If we accept the object it may not go on permanent display it could, however, appear in temporary exhibitions and will, of course, be accessible for research.

If you wish to donate an object please contact Karen Snowden: karen.snowden@smtrust.uk.com
